Hotel wardrobes give you four hangers and a suitcase gives you none. These fold down to 25 × 13 cm — small enough for a suitcase pocket or a rucksack lid — and open out to a full 44 cm shoulder. Each one weighs 33 grams, so a set of six adds under 200 g to your bag.

The arms lock in two positions. Half open gives a short shoulder that suits children's and baby clothes; fully open gives the adult width for shirts, jackets and coats. A stainless steel pin at the pivot takes the load rather than the plastic itself, which is where folding hangers usually give way.

Moulded anti-slip grooves run along the top of each arm, so wide necklines and jersey fabrics stay put instead of creeping off the ends. Made from ABS plastic. Twenty-four in the pack.

Before you buy

These are built for portability rather than load. They suit shirts, blouses, light jackets and children's clothes; a heavy wet winter coat or a wool overcoat is better on a solid wooden or velvet hanger. They also have no clips or trouser bar, so skirts and trousers need folding over the arm.
