Cardboard boxes fail in two places on moving day: the base gives out and the rain gets in. These do neither. The handles wrap all the way under the bag and back up the other side, so a full load pulls against a continuous band of webbing instead of against stitching at the rim. The reinforced bottom takes the weight when the bag is set down full, which is when most storage bags split.
The fabric is a dual-sided reinforced polypropylene weave and it is fully waterproof — relevant if any part of the move happens between a van and a front door in British weather. A zip runs across the top rather than a drawstring, so the contents stay in when the bag tips.
Each bag has a label pocket on the side. Writing the room on a card beats writing on the bag, because the card changes and the bag gets used again. Empty, they fold flat, which is the whole argument for these over boxes: they go in a cupboard afterwards instead of the recycling.
These carry by hand, not on the back — there are no backpack straps, so a heavy bag is a two-handed or two-person lift up stairs. The sides are soft, so they will not stack into a square tower the way boxes do; pack the heavy ones at floor level and stack lighter ones on top.
